INDOOR CLIMBING

QUIET SESSIONS
A CALMER CLIMBING EXPERIENCE
If you have sensory needs, or simply prefer a quieter climb, this session is for you.
This summer we’re trialling quiet sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9:00–10:00am — an hour before the centre opens to the public. Booking is required.
You’re welcome to keep climbing past 10am. There’s no cut-off, but from that point the centre will be open as usual.

SUPERVISION
COME WITHOUT BOOKING
There’s no need to book if you want to come climbing! You can turn up at any time during our opening hours.
Bringing the Kids?
Under 18s need to be with a signed-off adult, but don’t worry – it’s straightforward. Here’s what you need to know:
• One adult can look after one child aged 4–6, or up to two children aged 7–17
• If you’ve got a mix — one child aged 6 or under and one aged 7 or over — you’ll need two adults between you
Before You Come
• Watch our short safety video
• Fill in your waiver online
• Double-check the supervision ratios above if you’re bringing kids
When You Arrive
• Check in at reception
• Hire climbing shoes if you need them
• Complete the safety quiz
• Climb for as long as you like!
Interested in trying roped climbing?
Roped climbing needs an extra sign-off before you get started. If you’re already comfortable with the basics, you can complete the sign-off when you arrive. If you’re new to it, no worries! You can join one of our instructor-led sessions where our team will guide you through everything safely, or sign up for our beginner course to learn the skills you’ll need. Once you’re ready, you can do a sign off.

ROCK UP CLUB
JUST GETTING STARTED?
Our 75-minute sessions are perfect for young climbers to jump into the sport in a fun, social setting. We organize groups by age – 5–7, 7–12, and 13–17 – so everyone gets the right fit. Each session is led by an instructor who makes sure everyone stays safe, has fun, and learns new skills.
Whether your child wants to focus on bouldering or try sessions with auto-belays, we’ve got both options covered. Plus, with regularly updated routes, returning climbers will always find fresh challenges to enjoy.
For those ready to take their climbing further, Rock Up Club is a natural starting point before moving on to our NICAS and NIBAS courses. These programs help young climbers build confidence and skills, and when your child’s ready, we’ll be here to guide you on what’s next.

NICAS
LEARN NEW SKILLS
NICAS and NIBAS are nationally recognised climbing awards structured as progressive programmes. They take young climbers through a series of levels, each with clear skills to learn and a formal award on completion. NIBAS focuses on bouldering; NICAS covers roped climbing. Both are designed to build real ability and for many are the starting point for a lifelong love of the sport.
A note on availability: NICAS courses are currently in high demand and have a waiting list. To register your interest and find out about upcoming spaces, email Amber, our head coach and NICAS coordinator, at amber@oakwoodclimbingcentre.com.

PRIVATE SESSIONS
TAILORED FOR YOU
Book a private session with one of our instructors for up to 6 of your family and friends
Whether it’s just for you, or for a mixture of family and friends of any ages (4yrs+), these sessions will give you dedicated time with one of our instructors and can be adjusted to suit your needs.
If you would like to book a private coaching session instead to focus on improving your climbing technique, please email enquiries@oakwoodclimbingcentre.com

PARTIES
A BIRTHDAY TO REMEMBER
Plan the ultimate celebration for their special day.
Our climbing parties are great for those wanting to embrace their adventurous sides! From the ages of 5 years old, they can scale our bouldering walls and try out our auto-belays with their closest friends and family!
Birthday parties are instructed sessions where the children are supervised by a qualified climbing instructor. Their instructor will introduce them to the world of climbing, challenging the ones who have climbed before but adapting to support and encourage the beginners of the group.
We do not have catering facilities on site, however we have a party room available to hire and you’re welcome to bring your own food and drink.

ADDITIONAL NEEDS

If your child has any additional needs that may require support, we can adjust and tailor sessions to meet their needs. Please call the centre on 01189792246 and discuss this with the management team before booking so that we can ensure your child has a great time!
