@gb_climbing @teambmc Oakwood is proud to be host @gb_climbing @teambmc Oakwood is proud to be hosting the BMC Youth Training event, Innovate, this Saturday! The Competition Wall and Octa Slab will be closed to the public for the event, but the rest of the centre will remain open as normal. Plus, the extension is getting a fresh set tomorrow, so there'll be plenty of new problems to get stuck into. The event has been set by the GB setting team and you'll have the chance to test yourself on the same boulders the athletes climbed – including the no-hands slab workshop problems! Slab mode: engage!
Big news! We've joined the Independent Climbing Wa Big news! We've joined the Independent Climbing Wall Collective (ICWC) - a new not-for-profit network of independent climbing walls across the UK. What's in it for you? Oakwood members now get one free visit per month to any other wall in the Collective! Why we joined At Oakwood, our whole purpose is to benefit the local community. The ICWC is about independent walls supporting each other so that local, community-run spaces can keep thriving. We're proud to be part of it.
If you have sensory needs, or simply prefer a quie If you have sensory needs, or simply prefer a quieter climb, this session is for you. This summer we're trialling Quiet Sessions - Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9:00–10:00am, an hour before the centre opens to the public. Please make sure you book in advance if you'd like to come, by following the link in our bio. You're welcome to keep climbing for as long as you like past 10, but from this point this centre will be open to the public as usual.
It feels like it's been summer for weeks! But the It feels like it's been summer for weeks! But the real holidays haven't even started yet! Here's what we've got going on during the school break. 🌞New! Quiet Sessions: A calmer climbing experience for anyone with sensory needs, or if you simply prefer a quieter climb. We're trialing these sessions this summer on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9-10am, an hour before the centre opens to the public. Feel free to keep climbing past 10am - there's no cut-off- but from that point the centre will be open as usual. Booking is required. 🌞Rock Up Club: A fun and friendly climbing session for 5-17 year olds to explore the bouldering wall and auto-belays! Whether your child is new to climbing or returning for more, these 75 minute sessions are a great way to help build confidence and have fun. Each session is led by supportive, qualified instructors who encourage progress at each child's own pace. 🌞Private Instructed Sessions (ages 4+): Whether you're brand new, looking to build on existing skills, by yourself, or in a family of all ages; you can tailor this session for whatever you need. Led by a friendly instructor, it's a great way to spend some time as a family this summer. 🌞Holiday Activity Days: Looking for something exciting to keep your kids active? Aimed at ages 7-17, our holiday activity days are all about building confidence, teaching new skills, and making friends – all while spending time outdoors.
