Is February too early to reset the Outdoor Boulder Is February too early to reset the Outdoor Boulder?? We don't think so! Although we might change our mind if the weather is bad on our set day, so keep an eye on the forecast if you're planning a session on the Outdoor Boulder! Also, we've heard your cries of 'what dates are the rope lines being reset?!' and so will be adding these onto our setting timetables going forward!
We wanted to shout out @flo_nut_climbs24 who compe We wanted to shout out @flo_nut_climbs24 who competed exceptionally well in this year’s BBCs, finishing first place. As a result, she is now officially ranked UK Number One in the Under-17 Youth B Female category and has been pre-selected for the World Championships later this year! We are so psyched for Flo and proud that Oakwood can contribute to developing local young talent. Florence was not the only Oakwood athlete competing at a high level over the weekend. Finley Neville and Reuben Hayward took on the challenge of the Senior category. All faced an exceptionally difficult and demanding set of competition blocks, and it was fantastic to see such strong representation from Oakwood across categories! We’re having open try-outs for the Oakwood Squad We’re having open try-outs for the Oakwood Squad! If you or someone you know is aged 10-17 and keen to join, then here’s everything you need to know: Date: 14 February Time: 7:45–10:30 Location: Oakwood Climbing Centre Ages: 10–17 What to expect: The session will include a group warm-up game and a 15-bloc mini competition. As well as climbing ability, our coaches will be looking at behavior, attitude, and how each climber works within a group. After the trial, the coaching team will meet, and successful applicants will be invited to join the squad. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, then we’d love to see you at the trial! If you would like to attend, please contact jasper@oakwoodclimbingcentre.com or just turn up on the day.
CLOSED - We’re hiring an in-house setter! We’ CLOSED - We’re hiring an in-house setter! We’re looking for someone to join the team one day a week to set boulders, ropes, strip and wash - everything that is required to deliver a programme of setting in an indoor gym. We have a top tier setting team here at Oakwood headed up by Mikey Cleverdon, so if you want a chance to work some of the UK’s best setters, this could be the role for you.
